Kathleen “Kat” Menz

2017 FSO Head Coach

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to be returning to the Otters for the 2017 season!  For those of you who don't know me, I started swimming for the Otters in 1999 when I was 5 years old and swam every year thereafter.  This will be my first season as Head Coach after two great seasons as an assistant.

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2016 with a pre-law degree.  There, I continued my aquatic pursuits as a member of the NCAA women's water polo team for four years and represented Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.  I've competed in ocean water swims as well as the Meet of Champions with the Folsom Sea Otters.

I began as a Swimmer Coach when I was 13 years old for the Otters and coached every year after.  In 2014 and 2015 I was an Assistant Coach for the Otters.  In addition to swimming, I've coached 10u water polo for 5 years.

My philosophy is simple: work hard and have fun.  I've been involved with this team for 17 years, with the exception of this past summer.  I'm so excited to return as Head Coach to nurture and train this team.  Swimming isn't just about the physical training.  The mental game and sportsmanship side of the sport are two areas in which I hold to a high importance and hope to teach our swimmers.

I can't wait to get our season started! Feel free to email me with any questions at  Go Otters!

Maclean "Mac" Ankhelyi

2017 Assistant Coach

Coach Mac will be returning to the FSO coaching staff this year as an Assistant Coach. He has five years of experience as a Swimmer Coach and one year of experience as an Assistant Coach.  He had been swimming on the Folsom Sea Otters since he was 9 years old.  He also swam for the Vista del Lago High School Swim Team.  Swimming has been instrumental in his life and he wants to continue to pass down what he has learned from the sport.  Mac currently attends the University of Portland where he is studying in the field of Operations and Technology Management.  He is pumped for the upcoming season and can’t wait to get back on the pool deck.

Megan Curry

2017 Assistant Coach

Coach Megan will be returning to the Folsom Sea Otters coaching staff this year as an Assistant Coach.  She had been a Swimmer Coach with the Folsom Sea Otters for several years and will continue in her second year as Assistant Coach.  Megan is studying at American River College with plans of transferring to UCLA studying sociology and art history.  She has swum on the Folsom Sea Otters Swim Team since she was five years old, and considers the team her extended family.  She was captain of her swim team at Folsom High School, and she considers that one of the most rewarding things she has ever done.  Megan aims to make swim practice the best part of the day for her swimmers.  She emphasizes the importance of teamwork and leadership, and believes happy swimmers will be fast swimmers.  She is so excited for the season to start, and to get to know everyone!  Go Otters!
